The network was using an Asus router with it's wifi turned off as the only router, with the Velop mesh for all the access points. I had a Linksys Velop wifi 5 mesh, running it in bridge mode to provide a large area with wifi coverage. So, overall…after a few bumps…router is working meeting near all of demands (just 1 room is the sacrificial lamb). Router not defective…just a bad feature that can be disabled. I intentionally left it off (at the pain of hearing all the family scream at me) for a day to see if it would recover…nope! IMO, super bad feature. When it was going out, I had to bounce (reboot) router before it would work again. I just have to remember to update manually now periodically. Well…after checking configurations and finding nothing wrong…I wondered if it was the auto updating feature. I really thought the router was bad when periodically the router would stop working. I hate not having ability to do same from my computer that is hard wired to router! (BTW, I am an IT developer/architect). I love the ability to monitor and control from a mobile phone. So…I just know 1 of the areas is the “black hole” now. Yes, I know structure elements can be impacting (pipes, wires, etc) - no matter where I place router, it doesn’t cover entire home adequately. I have a home that should be 100% covered, but it isn’t. Not convinced the signal is as powerful as advertised. I have a couple beefs with this router, but overall it’s mostly fitting the demands.įirst: signal.
